Cañoneras, located in Soba, is the first wind farm in Cantabria and the only one owned by Iberdrola España in the region. The electricity produced by this wind farm is delivered to the Ramales substation and is used by Iberdrola España.
The construction of the wind farm was divided into two phases: in the first phase, in 2006, 21 wind turbines of 850 kW each were installed, along with the implementation of the substation, the control building and the necessary transmission infrastructure. In the second phase, in 2010, 17 wind turbines with the same rated power were installed.
The Cañoneras wind farm, with 66,000 MWh of annual production, has demonstrated that the installation of wind farms in Cantabria can be carried out respecting environmental values.
