We are committed to ongoing research in the field of clean generation technologies –focusing on flexibility, operational efficiency, environmental friendliness and safety– as well as the development of new products and services adapted to customers’ needs in an ever-changing energy market.
The energy transition to a carbon neutral economy requires major efforts in all sectors, as well as the use of all available emission-free or carbon neutral technologies. Through electric vehicles and heat pumps, emissions from end-uses such as transport, heating and cooling can be eliminated, giving the consumer a key role to play in the transition through self-consumption and energy management smart solutions. Green hydrogen production also holds enormous potential for carbon-neutral fuels in gas or liquid form.

Smart Mobility
Our sustainable mobility plan will intensify the deployment of charging points for electric vehicles in the coming years. Iberdrola's public and private network is now at a total of 45,000 points and reinforces its leading position as the most extensive public charging network in Spain. All these points are powered by 100% green energy, from renewable sources with a guarantee of origin certificate. The initiative envisages the installation of around 110,000 high-efficiency charging points, both on city streets and on the main motorways, and in homes and at businesses.
The commitment to the deployment of high-efficiency stations will take the form of the installation of ultra-fast (350 kW) stations every 200 kilometres, super-fast (150 kW) stations every 100 kilometres and fast (50 kW) stations every 50 kilometres, as well as innovative technological solutions to further improve the service for s, such as the combination of recharging infrastructure with second-life battery storage.
To achieve this goal, the role of the partnership with bp will be crucial, with an investment of 1,000 million euros to create the most extensive fast and ultra-fast public charging network on the peninsula, with 11,700 points by 2030.
Iberdrola, together with more than 50 partners led by Seat Volkswagen, is part of the F3 Group, which seeks to promote the development and manufacture of electric and connected vehicles, based on the sustainability of the entire value chain, to make Spain the European hub for electromobility.
Heavy transport
We are pioneers in the electrification of heavy transport, with the first ultra-fast charging stations developed for trucks by Iberdrola. We are leading the project to develop the first Mediterranean Corridor for 100% electric heavy transport by road in collaboration with the transport and logistics company Disfrimur and Ingeteam, a company specialising in power electronics. In this corridor, the first public MCS charger for heavy vehicles in southern Europe has been rolled out by Iberdrola|bp pulse. We have also ed forces with AEDIVE to promote the electrification of this mode of transport.
Iberdrola also provides daily recharging for more than 550 electric buses and expects to continue helping to decarbonise more vehicles in the coming months. It has numerous agreements in place, including a partnership with the Madrid Municipal Transportation Company (EMT) for the electrification of the city's bus network and the Irizar Group, supplying renewable energy at its factories to contribute to the decarbonisation of the life cycle of its buses.
Micromobility
The electrification of transport in urban areas also involves the promotion of Personal Mobility Vehicles (PMVs) such as bicycles, scooters and electric motorbikes. We are validating a new car park for electric vehicles capable of accommodating bicycles and scooters that has an innovative solar pavement. This guarantees the renewable origin of the energy used in the storage and charging stations for PMVs.
Ports
Through PERSEO Venture Builder, we have promoted the Net-Zero MAR Alliance with more than 20 companies and organisations and with the of Puertos del Estado (State Ports). This is a collaborative, non-profit platform that aims to accelerate the electrification of the maritime sector in Spain. We also offer port decarbonisation solutions, including on-site renewable generation and deployment of Onshore Power Supply (OPS) technology, among others.

Electrification of industry
At Iberdrola we are committed to accompanying industries in the Energy Transition as a Service (ETaaS) through tailored solutions that drive the decarbonisation of industrial processes by automating the design and integration of clean technologies and energy efficiency measures. These include the high-temperature heat pump, capable of converting waste heat into steam that is up to 200 degrees Celsius.
We are also promoters of the Q-Zero Alliance for the decarbonisation of thermal demand in Spain. This initiative is open to all agents, especially those demanding thermal energy in the industrial sector and buildings, to move forward in its decarbonisation.
Energy efficiency in buildings
We are committed to the refurbishment and energy efficiency of buildings, providing solutions for energy saving and decarbonisation of homes, both single-family and apartment buildings. The proposal consists of a final turnkey product that combines different solutions: efficient electrical air conditioning with heat pumps, interventions on the thermal insulation of the home (facades, roofs, windows), energy supply and optimal maintenance of equipment. This guarantees simplicity, quality and cost containment for the customer.
Heat networks
We promote the creation of heat networks to supply residual thermal energy from renewable energy installations to buildings and homes. To do so, we created IR Redes de Calor y Frío S.L. together with the company REBI Recursos de la Biomasa S.L. Through the heat network, thermal energy can be exchanged between those producers with excess energy and those demanding it, taking energy efficiency values to the maximum.

Our Smart Solar photovoltaic self-consumption solution for neighbourhood communities enables them to generate their own 100% renewable energy and save on their bills, distributing the energy generated among the neighbours and the community according to their stake. We also offer the possibility of setting up Solar Communities, for those who prefer to have their roof be used for photovoltaic s in exchange for clean energy.
In addition, we are looking into new possibilities with innovative projects in the field of agrovoltaics or floating photovoltaics.

Iberdrola is anticipating the new energy landscape, in which smart grids make it easy to integrate a greater number of renewable facilities and the public can become prosumers. We are committed to Smart Cities, which combine actions in electric mobility with solar self-consumption and climate electrification, in addition to a layer of local energy management and optimisation, an essential requirement to connect and add value to the solutions.
We have developed the Advanced Smart Assistant, a comprehensive energy management system that, based on AI, is capable of autonomously managing all the Smart Solutions in our customers' homes, generating additional value for each one of them.

At Iberdrola, we are leading the development of green hydrogen with more than 50 projects in eight countries. In Puertollano, we inaugurated the largest green hydrogen plant for industrial use in Europe, whose 100% renewable hydrogen production is used at the Fertiberia Group's ammonia factory in Puertollano. This pioneering plant uses energy from a 100 MW solar photovoltaic plant, directly connected to the electrolyser, and is our first installation in Spain with bifacial s and a lithium-ion battery storage system with a capacity of 20 MWh. This is a circular project: in the future the waste heat could be used to provide hot water and residential heating to the town of Puertollano.
In the transport sector, we also have a green hydrogen plant in Barcelona's Zona Franca to supply city buses with this clean energy, with a capacity of 2.5 MW. The installation allows fuel to be supplied to other fleets of heavy vehicles in the industrial estate that adopt this vector as an energy solution, generating a multiplier effect around this technology.
